The story of the good Samaritan is one of the most well known stories in the Bible. It is also one of the most misunderstood stories in the Bible. Often told as a moral story of kindness towards others, it misses the heart of what Jesus is saying. Instead of placing ourselves in the story as the Samaritan, what if we are really the one who was beaten? If we are meant to understand this story from the point of receiving mercy, how does that change our response?
