We are a lively Bible-centred church in Balham, meeting just around the corner from Balham tube station. As a church family we seek to love and follow Jesus Christ, welcoming people from all walks of life and all parts of the world. We believe that in the Bible God speaks a message of hope and forgiveness that is both life-giving and life-changing. This message is for us, for Balham and for the world. Come and join us!
You are welcome!
Whoever you are, we would love you to come and join us as we gather in God's presence on a Sunday morning.
preaching God’s Word
Everything we do is taken from our desire to put God's word into action. We hear the Spirit speak as the Bible is preached on Sundays and studied in small groups throughout the week. All our talks are posted online and are also available as a podcast.
For everyone
Christianity is collective; it’s not meant to be a lone crusade. We need one another for encouragement, support and accountability. We aim to be a church that loves God’s people sacrificially by offering practical service to anyone among us in need, whether new mums needing meals, lonely or sick people needing a visit or the discouraged needing reassurance.
For City Workers
A large proportion of our church family work in the city, and spend just as much time there as in the Balham area. It can be easier for Christians to meet up to encourage one another over lunch and coffee breaks in the city, rather than where they live, which could easily intrude on precious family time. Our staff team spend many afternoons in the city meeting up with individuals to read the Bible one-to-one and pray, so that they might in turn be equipped to disciple others in a similar way.
For Students
We love students at CCB, and encourage them to live wholeheartedly for Jesus Christ at university. Balham is close to St George’s University so we have lots of medical students who are part of CCB as well as students from elsewhere. Our philosophy is to fully integrate students into the life of the church family, whilst providing specific opportunities for them to be encouraged in their unique environment. We love the work of the Christian Unions (UCCF) and fully support it!
For People with questions
On Sundays we usually have people joining us looking in on Christian things, often with big questions about life. Some prefer to just sit at the back and listen, whilst others prefer to engage with loads of questions - whichever you are, you are most welcome! Our services are designed to be friendly, informal and accessible - you don’t need to know anything to join us.
