Christ Church Balham
Who we are
I used to want to produce fliers advertising Christ Church Balham that said 'If
Carslberg did church ...' But not only would I have run into legal issues, I realised
it simply wasn't true.
Ours is not a church marked by perfection, quite the opposite. We're all imperfect
and all of what we do is marked by imperfection. We recognise that. Ours is not
the perfect church by any stretch of the imagination!
And so we rejoice and take pride not in ourselves but in Jesus Christ and His gospel.
We worship, serve, trust and follow a perfect Lord and Saviour.
And we don't want to keep him to ourselves. We're longing for the people of Balham
to hear about Jesus Christ in language that they can understand and in a context
where they feel comfortable. Contemporary church plants in a school hall won't appeal
to everyone. But with over 60% of Balham's population under the age of 40 we're
aware that many of the 21,000 people who live here have lost contact with and perhaps
confidence in the established church. And so if we can do our bit and join with
other likeminded churches in this area in making Christ known, then we'll be delighted.
